Building a Residential Complex in Shingal

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS - By Hassan Shingali

I was so happy and joyful when I heard of the elections and coming back to my lovely town Shingal. Returning from Duhok to Shingal takes the whole three hours, but I was not discouraged because of my zest and happiness which I felt to see my hometown again. Shingal, the town that has suffered a lot and underwent many difficulties during the previous regime, is now enjoying developments in many fields. People were extremely excited about the coming of the two elections and they went enthusiastically to the ballot boxes to vote for their future and for the sake of a better Shin- gal . A great number of people cast their votes and the whole process went smoothly.

Many projects and services have been carried out in Shingal recently like building schools, governmental institutions and many more under the supervision of the Kurdistan's Regional Government (KRG). In the last few decades, the town was neglected. It was just like a desert, no one paid attention to it and there were not many projects undertaken in the town. But now and specially when the Kurdish Government began to invest capital here and tried to modernize the town, it has become a suc- cess story. Moreover, the people are having a sense of freedom and independence. Shingal is one of the disputed territories between the Iraqi government and Kurdistan, people still hope that it will be conjoined to the greater Kurdistan's one day and will enjoy every right that the Kurdish people have under the rule of their own Kurdish government.

Vian Dakheel , the candidate of the Kurdish Alliance to the Iraqi Council of Representatives, has announced that there is a residential project underway in Shingal and the process is going on well . The project consists of 375 new apart- ments and she pointed out that the project has created 1,200 job opportunities for the Shingali citizens. The construction of the residential units will cost 43 billion Iraqi Dinars and it will be completed in two years time.

"The Judicial Council will take the responsibility of distributing the apartments to the needy people after the completion of the project. The workforce will be the Shingali people only and that provides the unemployed with work ," said Dakheel.
