Over 30 Kurds killed in Mosul last month

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

More than 170 people were killed in violence across Mosul last month, according to the police sources there, one of the highest monthly death tolls in the year for the Kurds.

Violence has increased sharply in Nineveh Province generally over the past three months, with bombings in civilian areas growing more frequent as fears grow that widespread terrorist activities continue.

According to Media Manager of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Headquarter in Mosul, Saeed Mamuzini, 173 people were killed in the terrorists bombings last month in the city, and 33 of them were Kurds.

Iraqi and Kurdistan Region authorities believe the local offshoot of al-Qaida like The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant known as ISIL and other Sunnibacked militant groups are responsible for much of the violence.

Mamuzini said that 51 armed men from ISIL and 127 terrorists form other groups have been arrested since last month.

“The killings have dropped generally but killing Kurds has increased unfortunately,” he divulged.

The statistical data from police sources show that over 360 people have been killed during the first four months of this year. People demand that the Iraqi political leaders must act immediately to stop this intolerable bloodshed.
