KRG finance Ministry responds PM Maliki

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

In a statement released last week, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Finance and Economy confirmed that the salaries of the KRG employees have been withheld by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Noori al-Maliki. The KRG has only received employees’ monthly payments from Baghdad for January and February only.

This statement was issued as a response to Maliki who, in an interview with Al-Iraqiya TV, denied he has cut the KRG employees pay and he reiterated that the KRG wants to arouse people’s hostile feelings against the Iraqi Government.

Maliki also assured the viewers that reports of the KRG employees having their salary withheld are false and that it is merely a tactic to undermine him and raise public anger against him. According to the KRG, Baghdad has withheld the federal budget as a means to punish Kurdistan’s independent oil sales.
