Shex Shamo, tak­ing the Par­lia­men­tary Oath –Rep­re­sent­ing the Yazidis

Shex Shamo is one of the Yazidi of­fi­cials and the Head of Lal­ish Cul­tural and So­cial Cen­ter, the Duhok branch. Shamo is of the Yazidis who has par­tic­i­pated in too many con­fer­ences and the meet­ings in or­der to make the world learn about the Ya- zidis and pay at­ten­tion to this mi­nor­ity who live in Kur­dis­tan. In re­cent years, Shex Shamo has been an ac­tive per­son who sac­ri­ficed his life for the sake of the Yazidi and height­en­ing the Yazidi is­sues. He has done a lot to pro­mote the Yazidi cause. Now he rep­re­sents his people in the Kur­dish Par­lia­ment.

Be­fore Shex Shamo be­came a Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment, he ded­i­cated his life to make the people aware of the Yazidi is­sue. Shamo par­tic­i­pated in the pre­vi­ous Par­lia­men­tary Elec­tions. He gar­nered 9000 votes but failed to be­come an MP.

Shamo is a great sup­porter of all Yazidis and spe­cially in the process of en­act­ing laws for the Yazidis. Shamo has been cho­sen in­stead of Nora Hama Ali and took the Par­lia­men­tary oath be­fore the mem­bers of the Par­lia­ment in the hall of Kur­dis­tan Re­gional Par­lia­ment in Er­bil. Has­san Ali , a young Yazidi said: '' Hav­ing people like Shek Shamo and other Yazidis in the Kur­dis­tan Par­lia­ment is a step to­wards rais­ing the is­sue of the Yazidis , I am happy for Shamo to be in the Par­lia­ment be­cause I am sure he will do some­thing great for the Yazidis."
