Turk­ish Prime Min­is­ter, Re­cep Tayyip Er­do­gan, re­ceived the for­mer pro-Kur­dish Demo­cratic So­ci­ety Party (DTP) Ah­met Turk chair­man, in Au­gust 5, 2009 for the first time to dis­cuss about the Kur­dish ques­tion.

Au­gust 6, 1936

The fa­mous Kur­dish singer, Sayed Ali As­ghari passed away in Au­gust 6, 1936.

The Treaty of Sevres, which was the peace treaty be­tween the Ot­toman Em­pire and Al­lies at the end of World War I, was signed in 10 Au­gust 1920.

Au­gust 11, 2003

-In Kabul, NATO took com­mand of the 5,000-strong peace­keep­ing force in Afghanistan in Au­gust 11, 2003.

-The King of Jor­dan be­came the first Arab head of state to visit Iraq in Au­gust 11, 2008 since 2003 af­ter the US in­va­sion and over­throw of Sad­dam Hus­sein. King Ab­dul­lah talked with the prime min­is­ter and vice-pres­i­dent of Iraq.
