Yazidi Women in ISIS’S Prisons

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS - By Hassan Shingali

A large number of Yazidi women have been sexually harassed, raped and killed. Still thousands of them especially girls and children are in the hands of the ISIS. After they ran to the mountains for shelter and security, they have been caught by the ISIS. Yazidi family members have been separated from one another; women, girls and children on one side and men on the other. The women and girls are taken to Talafar and Mosul by the ISIS and are put in prisons, and the men have been killed.

Kojo and Hatme are two of the Yazidis complexes in Shingal that have been captured by the ISIS. They are turned into prisons. During a call to one of the girls in one these two prisons, she said that they do not know where they are. She added: "There are hundreds of girls here and each 10 minutes they rape a girl."

Making several attempts to call the prisoners who can still use their cell phones, we could finally get in touch with one of them and she said that the ISIS took us from the mountain and separated us from our men, we don’t know exactly where we are but the only thing that we know is that we are alive but dead inside."

Demonstration are being held among the Yazidis who have fled from the Mount Shingal demanding emigration to other countries because they say that they cannot live in Kurdistan any longer. The Kurdistan Regional Government has done everything in its power to help the Yazidis.
