50k stu­dents to at­tend col­leges and in­sti­tutes this year

Of­fi­cial spokesper­son of the Min­istry of Higher Ed­u­ca­tion and Sci­en­tific Re­search of the Kur­dis­tan Re­gional Gov­ern­ment KRG an­nounced that for the com­ing aca­demic year of 2014-2015 ap­prox­i­mately 50 thou­sand stu­dents shall be ad­mit­ted into the public and pri­vate uni­ver­si­ties, col­leges and in­sti­tutes.

The an­nounce­ment came in a news re­port posted on the zanko­line.com web­page quot­ing from Foad Ali, the min­istry’s spokesper­son.

Ali has an­nounced that high school grad­u­ates will ap­ply for higher ed­u­ca­tion via fill­ing ap­pli­ca­tion forms on zanko­line. com, and 50 thou­sand ap­pli- cants shall get a seat in one of the re­gion’s public and pri­vate higher ed­u­ca­tion in­sti­tu­tions.

Ali com­mented on the de­ci­sion by the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion to resched­ule the re-sit ex­ams for the 12th grade stu­dents and said this will af­fect the ed­u­ca­tion process in gen­eral.

Dr. Pshti­wan Sadiq, KRG’s Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter an­nounced that due to the humanitarian sit­u­a­tion in the re­gion and the oc­cu­pa­tion of many schools by In­ter­nally Dis­placed Per­sons IDPs, the re-sit ex­ams of the Grade 12 stu­dents shall be post­poned by one month to be con­ducted on Septem­ber 21, 2014.
