Kerry reiterates US support for the Kurdish Region
In a phone call to Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani, US Foreign Minister John Kerry repeated Washington’s support for the Kurdish Region.
The two sides discussed latest developments in Iraq and Kerry’s recent tour to Iraq and the Middle Eastern states.
The two officials further asked for more negotiations between all sides in Iraq in fighting against terrorism and improving security and stability in the state, a large northern part of it now is run by the militants of the Islamic State (IS).
According to the region’s presidency website, Kerry has reiterated White House’s support for the Kurdish Government in its fighting against the jihadists.
Kerry did not visit Erbil during his tour to the region.
