PAX Helps the IDP in Duhok

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS - By Hassan Shingali

Thousands of IDP have entered the Kurdistan Region fleeing from the attacks of the Islamic State. The government here has provided them with basic assistance. The Kurdish government also asked the humanitarian organizations and many NGOs to do whatever necessary to help these victims. The term humanity is a huge word for organizations that assist and act in conflict areas since many of the vulnerable families lose their dignity and safety which are two main human characteristics.

During the recent attacks of the ISIS on Zumar and Shingal, many organizations have shown the IDP's vulnerability. These people are in dire need of assistance. It is almost impossible to make these victims normal again. Supplying these war-affected people with food and shelter is not enough. They need professional psychological therapy to return back to their normal existence. They have lost their dignity and self esteem. It is the job of the international community to help these people to lead an ordinary life again. The UN, UNECEF, Harikar, UNAMI, ACTED, Save the Children, ACF and many other Organizations have to act urgently to save these poor souls.

PAX is a Dutch organization that works in war-torn areas. It cooperates with the local authorities to find the best solutions for victims of an armed conflict. It provides financial support as well. PAX has many objectives. One of them is "We are all Humans."It has ambassadors of the citizens in most of the Iraqi governorates. Zuhair Kh. Lazgeen, the PAX ambassador in Duhok city, said," In each governorate there is a platform which works for the rights of minorities. The ambassadors and the platform work to improve the circumstances that people live in. They work with youths of all the communities," added Lazgeen. Pax does not address only the rights of minorities but it also addresses their awareness of peace and security. Many activities have been supervised by Pax. One of them was conducted recently in Duhok city with the participation of its ambassador Zuhair Khelo who has played a great role in distributing the basic needs to the of IDP and addressing their sufferings. Kids were the ones who were taken care of in one of the schools in the city. The ambassadors are always, of course, willing to help the members of the minorities groups like Yazidis, Christians and Shabaks.
