Iraqi PM re­tires150 se­nior army of­fi­cers

Iraqi Prime Min­is­ter Haider al-Abadi, who is the com­man­der in chief of the armed forces at the same time, de­cided to re­tire 150 se­nior of­fi­cers of the Iraqi army, in­clud­ing Qas­sim Atta, Op­er­a­tions Di­rec­tor of the In­tel­li­gence Agen- cy, and Mo­hammed Askari, se­nior De­fense Min­istry Ad­viser, said a mil­i­tary source on the con­di­tion of anonymity.

Me­dia or­ga­ni­za­tions said that this decision is the sec­ond step after the PM al-Abadi dis­solved the of­fice of the gen­eral com­mand and re­tir­ing Ali Ghaidan, com­man­der Gen­eral of the ground forces and Aboud Qan­bar, deputy Chief of Staff of the Iraqi army.
