PYD considers Barzani’s efforts as significant
The Democratic Union Party (PYD) Representative in the Kurdistan Region, Diyar Qamishli, said that Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani did a national duty in bringing all Syrian Kurdistan parties together.
In an interview with BasNews, Qamishli believes that the air strikes of US-led coalition on the besieged city of Kobani against the Islamic State militants were the result of Barzani’s call for the international community to help Kobane.
Qamishli talked about the current meetings of the Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) parties in the Kurdistan Region that have been going on for two weeks.
“The meetings were very important especially now that Kobani is in a tough situation. We consider the efforts of Barzani important as well as it is a national duty. We hope all the Kurdish parties, especially those which haven't been part of the administration of the Cantons in Rojava, will participate in the running of the internal affairs of the Cantons henceforth," said Qamishli.
“Barzani has encouraged all Kurdish political parties to unite and consider the current situation of Kurds. The only thing left is the unity of all Kurds,” added Qamishli.
He also hoped that all four parts of Kurdistan will unite because “attacks on Kobani mean attacks on Erbil or any other Kurdish city”.
Qamishli further explained that Barzani played a positive role from the beginning of Kobani’s crisis.
“He played a very important role in calling US-led coalition and international community to strike IS militant bases inside and around Kobani,’ noted the PYD senior official from Erbil.
Commenting on the military help of Kurdistan Region to Rojava, Qamishli stated, “We value the demonstrations in Kurdistan Region in support of Rojava which generated pressure on the international community to support Kobani. We hope people continue doing this national duty.”
He also mentioned that the relationship between PYD and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is getting closer. There is hope that some other good meetings will be held between both sides, which will improve their relationships further. This will definitely serve the national interest of the Kurds.
