An evening full of Thanksgiving to the Americans and Kurdistanis by AKFA

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

In the evening of Nov 27, 2014 in Kurdistan Region’s capital Hawler, the Armerican Kurdistan Friendship Association, like the previous years, threw a party for the Americans and Kurdistanis. Harry Schute, the Deputy Chairman of AKFA gave a speech on behalf of the Association and shed light on the significance of this day for American citizens. He talked about the role Kurdistan Region is playing in preparing the ground for American citizens and friends to cel- ebrate Thanksgiving every year.

Then Governor of Hawler, Nawzad Hadi delivered a speech and talked about the situation in Kurdistan and appreciated the role of the Chairman of the Association, Sirwan Barzani, who’s now serving as a Peshmerge in Gwer and Makhmour. Barzani annually presides over the celebration.

The US Consule to Kurdistan Region also gave a speech, talking about the victories of Kurdistan in the war against ISIS and congratulated the dants.

Thanksgiving is a happy day for Americans. The families usually gather together and prepare a special dinner. What’s special about this dinner is the roasted turkey as a symbol of satisfying one's hunger and avoidance of catastrophes as a result of the tough confrontation of people with life and nature.

The celebration was attended by numbers of Peshmerge and US soldiers, as two strong allies.
