More than 400 Yazidis freed from IS
As fighting between Peshmarga Forces and the Islamic State fighters continue on Mount Sinjar, a Peshmarga commander said that they defeated an attack by IS and freed more than 400 Yazidis from them.
“More than 400 Yazidis, who were captured by IS terrorists a while ago near Talaafar, were freed and are now on Mount Sinjar,” Qassim Shasho, Commander of Peshmarga on Mount Sinjar, said. “The health situation of the freed Yazidis are good and they will be re- located to refugee camps in Duhok.”
According to Commander Shasho, IS fighters attacked Peshmarga forces in Banasor area, but they were defeated.
He added that more than 10 of IS fighters were killed in the clashes and Peshmarga took over some of their arms.
“After freeing Rabiaa and Zummar, the IS have been continuously retreating,” Shasho stated. “A plan for liberating Sinjar is being made and the area will be cleaned from IS in the near future.”
