More than 400 Yazidis freed from IS

As fight­ing be­tween Pesh­marga Forces and the Is­lamic State fight­ers con­tinue on Mount Sin­jar, a Pesh­marga com­man­der said that they de­feated an at­tack by IS and freed more than 400 Yazidis from them.

“More than 400 Yazidis, who were cap­tured by IS ter­ror­ists a while ago near Talaa­far, were freed and are now on Mount Sin­jar,” Qas­sim Shasho, Com­man­der of Pesh­marga on Mount Sin­jar, said. “The health sit­u­a­tion of the freed Yazidis are good and they will be re- lo­cated to refugee camps in Duhok.”

Ac­cord­ing to Com­man­der Shasho, IS fight­ers at­tacked Pesh­marga forces in Bana­sor area, but they were de­feated.

He added that more than 10 of IS fight­ers were killed in the clashes and Pesh­marga took over some of their arms.

“After free­ing Rabiaa and Zum­mar, the IS have been con­tin­u­ously re­treat­ing,” Shasho stated. “A plan for lib­er­at­ing Sin­jar is be­ing made and the area will be cleaned from IS in the near fu­ture.”
