Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani separately met with Nikolay Mladenov, United Nations Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), and Patriarch Mar Luis Rafael, first Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq and their accompanying delegations.

The major topic of both meetings was the situation of the refugees and Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in Kurdistan.

Patriarch Rafael focused specially on the Christian IDPs and expressed his gratitude towards the support that the KRG has been giving them.

He said, "Although the IDPs are living through harsh situations, they at least feel safe and home in Kurdistan and are treated like brothers and sisters."

He also added that in his last meeting with the Pope of Vatican, he informed him about the well treatment of Christians in Kurdistan, and he reiter- ated that he would use his connections and lobby in Vatican and elsewhere in the world to collect aid for the IDPs.

Patriarch Rafael asked PM Barzani to try to find jobs for the professionals among the IDPs to make a living for themselves in the Region.

PM Barzani

reiterated his government's commitment to helping refugees in the best way possible with no discrimination. He also thanked Patriarch Rafael for praising KRG when meeting Pope in Vatican.

Mladenov, on the other hands, reiterated UN's commitment to encourage the international commu- nity to take more serious steps in helping the refugees.

The UN official welcomed the agreement between Erbil and Baghdad and reconfirmed UN's support for mutual understanding and solution to all issues between the two governments.
