More than 235 thousand Syrian refugees in Kurdistan
According to the most recent statistics the total number of Syrian Kurdish refugees in Kurdistan Region is 235,563.
Shakir Yassin, Director of Immigration and Immigrants Office of the Kurdistan Region, says a total of 82,026 Syrian Kurdish families are now in Kurdistan Region, majority of which are accommodated at the Domiz Camp in Duhok Province.
"Kurdistan Regional Government and the NGOSs, especially the Barzani Charity Foundation, are attending to their needs in a very good manner,” Yassin says. “They are living comfortably and all their basic services and needs are provided.”
According to Yassin, other refugees are staying with their relatives and acquaintances or live on their own elsewhere in the region.
