Head of the Foundation Sheikh Aziz Sheikh Raza thanked McCain for his support to the Kurdistan Region.

In a discussion about the refugee crisis, the 2008 Republican nominee for the US Presidential race praised the Barzani Foundation and the people of Kurdistan for their work helping displaced people throughout the region.

McCain said that Americans are hopeful about President Massoud Barzani’s role leading the fight against the Is- lamic State (IS), and promised more military and humanitarian aid.

He sent his condolences to those who have lost their loved ones fighting the IS.

McCain has been a long-time ally of the Kurds and since the start of the Islamic State war in northern Iraq, he has campaigned for US to send ground forces to Iraq to fight the extremist group.
