President Barzani and Iraqi President stress the commitment to Erbil-Baghdad agreement
Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani met with the Iraqi President Fuad Masom today in Salahaddin.
The two presidents discussed the fight against the ISIS terrorists, the role of the Peshmarga forces in this fight, and relations between Erbil and Baghdad.
The Iraqi President commended the recent successes of the Peshmarga forces against the ISIS terrorists and expressed his condolences to all those who have sacrificed their lives in this fight.
On the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the two underlined the importance of commitment, by both sides, to the Erbil-Baghdad deal on oil exports and revenue sharing.
President Barzani stated that the KRG would continue to support the new Iraqi government and the political process in the country.
“Masum recognized the Peshmarga sacrifices and offered his condolences to the families of the martyred Peshmarga, who protect the glorious achievements of Kurdistan with their blood,” read a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
“The Kurdistan Region will continue supporting the political system in the country,” the statement added.
The situation of refugees in the Kurdistan Region was also discussed.
Masum began his visit to the Region in Sulaimaniyah on Saturday, and from there he visited the cities of Halabja and Kirkuk on Tuesday, before arriving in Erbil.
