5,000 Iranians registered to fight ISIS
The security situation in Syria and Iraq and especially the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region has had impact on the neighboring countries.
The military institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran are recruiting volunteers to fight against the ISIS terrorists.
A large number of people register, some on religious and some on political bases.
Moreover, the Representation of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iran announced that they have been approached by a large number of people from the Iranian Kurdistan who showed their readiness and willingness to join the Peshmarga forces in their fight against ISIS.
According to informal figures published in the Iranian media organizations, more than 5,000 Iranian nationals have regis- tered to fight ISIS.
However, it is not clear yet how many have been actually recruited and sent to the fronts in Iraq.
Reports suggest that in the Kurdish cities and towns, the Iranian army has registered members for the army, and some of them have already participated in wars in Syria and Iraq.
Some Kurdish websites in Iran, on the other hands, argue that the Iranian regime is making use of the empathy between Kurds to recruit more people for the war. This way they also increase the number of the Kurdish members of the Iranian Army.
