Over 600 Yezidis rescued from IS so far
The spokesman of Yezidis in Shingal, Mahma Khalil, revealed that 62 Yezidis have been rescued from Islamic State (IS) last week. The rescuing process was achieved after serious attempts were made by Kurdistan Region President, Massoud Barzani, and the Peshmerga forces.
"The rescued Yezidis were directed to meet their families. They are now in good circumstances. At first, the forces were able to rescue 44 people in one day and then another 18 people the next day. There are women, kids, and men among the freed people," said Khalil
According to Khalil, 600 Yezidi Kurds have been rescued so far, but there are yet 3000 others living under IS control.
"We will continue trying to rescue the rest of the other families. I believe we can rescue a big number in the coming days," promised Khalil.
