Over 600 Yezidis res­cued from IS so far

The spokesman of Yezidis in Shin­gal, Mahma Khalil, re­vealed that 62 Yezidis have been res­cued from Is­lamic State (IS) last week. The res­cu­ing process was achieved af­ter se­ri­ous at­tempts were made by Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent, Mas­soud Barzani, and the Pesh­merga forces.

"The res­cued Yezidis were di­rected to meet their fam­i­lies. They are now in good cir­cum­stances. At first, the forces were able to res­cue 44 peo­ple in one day and then an­other 18 peo­ple the next day. There are women, kids, and men among the freed peo­ple," said Khalil

Ac­cord­ing to Khalil, 600 Yezidi Kurds have been res­cued so far, but there are yet 3000 oth­ers living un­der IS con­trol.

"We will con­tinue try­ing to res­cue the rest of the other fam­i­lies. I be­lieve we can res­cue a big num­ber in the com­ing days," promised Khalil.
