Pres­i­dent Barzani: Kur­dis­tan sup­ports Turk­ish peace process

Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent, Mas­soud Barzani, re­ceived Turkey’s Deputy For­eign Min­is­ter Feridun Sinir­li­oglu and his ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion on March 11 in Er­bil to dis­cuss the po­lit­i­cal de­vel­op­ments and the se­cu­rity sit­u­a­tion in the re­gion.

Dur­ing the meet­ing, they talked about the re­la­tion­ship be­tween the Min­istry of Pesh­merga and Turk­ish Min­istry of De­fense and spoke about the ways in which Turkey can aid Pesh­merga forces in the fu­ture.

Both sides ad­dressed the on­go­ing peace process in Turkey and for his part Mr Barzani said Kur­dis­tan Re­gion sup­ports the peace process in Turkey and is ready to pro­vide sup­port and as­sis­tance for the suc­cess of the dia­logue in all its stages.

The po­lit­i­cal and eco­nomic re­la­tions be­tween Turkey and Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, ways to ex­pand the scope of co­op­er­a­tion and co­or­di­na­tion be­tween the two sides in or­der to re­store se­cu­rity and sta­bil­ity in the re­gion and con­fronting ter­ror­ists were other top­ics of the meet­ing.

On his part, Sinir­li­oglu said that the se­cu­rity and sta­bil­ity of Kur­dis­tan is of great in­ter­est to his coun- try and Turkey is try­ing to strengthen the se­cu­rity and sta­bil­ity in the re­gion.
