Jalal Barzanji’s sec­ond book in English has been re­leased

Try­ing Again to Stop Time is se­lected po­ems pub­lished on Fe­bru­ary 18, 2015. The po­ems chron­i­cle the path of ex­ile and es­trange­ment from beloved Kur­dis­tan to Canada. The po­ems speak of im­por­tant top­ics such as the del­i­cate dance that hap­pens in the face of cen­sor­ship, war and op­pres­sion. The book is com­posed of pre­vi­ously pub­lished po­ems such as Try­ing Again to Stop Time 2009; I want to be named Home 2007, In Mem­ory of a Per­son Swept by the Wind 2006, The Rain of Com­mis­sion 2002, No Warmth 1985, and The Evening Snow Dance 1979. The book also in­cludes re­cent po­ems trans­lated from Jalal's new col­lec­tion (To­gether, Alone) which was pub­lished in 2015 by the Uni­ver­sity of Al­berta. The Mar­ket­ing Depart­ment at the Uni­ver­sity will be work­ing with its dis­trib­u­tors to pro­mote the book across the world in­clud­ing Wayne State Uni­ver­sity Press (WSUP) in the United States and Gazelle in Europe. This is Jalal's sec­ond pub­lished book in English. The Man in Blue Pa­ja­mas was Jalal's first book that was pub­lished in 2011 by the same pub­lisher in Canada.
