Kurdish Prime Minister mourns the death of Mohammed Bahr al Ulum
In a statement on the occasion of the death of the well known Shiite cleric Mohammed Bahr al Ulum, Nechirvan Barzani, the Prime Minsiter of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), published a statement on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
In the statement PM Barzani says that in addition to being an important religious figure and scientist, Bahr al Ulum had always stood against tyranny in in support of the oppressed people.
“The position and stance of this patriot and cleric towards the Kurdistani nation in the contemporary political history of Iraq is highly respected and unforgettable.
Barzani says by the death of Bahr al Ulum, Kurds lost a big friend, and it was also a big loss for all Iraqis, “especially since in addition to his historical role in the struggle of the Iraqi nation against dictatorship. He had a vital role in the rebuilding of the new Iraq.”
“On be half of myself, the government and the people of Kurdistan Region, I, though His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Bahr al Ulum, extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, the religious clerics and all the Iraqi people May God forgive his soul and may he rest in peace.”
