Pres­i­dent Barzani heads KDP and PUK polit­buro meet­ing

On April 14, the Pres­i­dent of Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, Mas­soud Barzani, headed a meet­ing in Sala­haddin be­tween Kur­dis­tan Demo­cratic Party (KDP) and Pa­tri­otic Union of Kur­dis­tan's (PUK) polit­buros.

Kos­rat Ra­sool Ali, the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Vice pres­i­dent and PUK Deputy Gen­eral Sec­re­tary, Fazil Mi­rani KDP polit­buro sec­re­tary and sev­eral polit­buro mem­bers from both par­ties at­tended the meet­ing that was started with a minute stand­ing to honor the Kur­dish fallen mar­tyrs.

The Iraqi and Kur­dis­tan Re­gion po­lit­i­cal and se­cu­rity sit­u­a­tions, fight­ing against the Is­lamic State group and the lat­est Pesh­merga forces vic­to­ries were dis­cussed in the meet­ing.

The at­ten­dees ap­pre­ci­ated the great role Pesh­merga forces played in the fight against IS and hon­ored the mar­tyrs who sac­ri­ficed their lives for the sake of li­brat­ing Kur­dish ar­eas.

In an­other part of the meet­ing, they talked about the re­la­tion­ships among the Kur­dish po­lit­i­cal par­ties, stress­ing that the achieve­ments of the Kur­dish peo­ple have been gained through the unity and co­ex­is­tence of the var­i­ous par­i­ties. They agreed that th­ese should be de­fended through mu­tual agree­ments and the na­tional unity.
