KRG spokesperson responds to a PKK leader

Reference to the recent statements by Duran Kalkan, member of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leadership, Safeen Dizayee, official spokesperson of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) made an official statement to the KRG’s official website.

“Duran Kalkan is one of the PKK leaders who talks with a rough language full of hatred towards the achievements and the will of the people of Kurdistan Region, for which thousands of young Kurdish heroes have sacrificed their lives, and who still protect it with their lives and bloods, makes irresponsible statements and asks for the abolition of the system that has been elected in a liberal democratic process; a system which is an example of coexistence, where all ethnic and religious components of the Region are represented, and has gained respect and recognition by the whole international community,” said Dizayee.

Dizayee also added that Kurdistan Region has established its own political and administrative system on the bases of election, the free will of people of the Kurdistan Region, and it has been in compliance with the Iraqi Constitution and its laws and has been recognized by the international com- munity.

“[Kurdistan Region] does not need advice from people who have proved by experience that wherever they are, there is no freedom, democracy, coexistence, tolerance or any other such concepts and values on which the free and modern world are established,” Dizayee continued. “There are only unilateralism, selfimposing, intolerance, oppression and suppression of those who are not with them. And this is crystal clear to everyone and does not need explanation.”

Dizayee told the website that the system in Kurdistan Region consists of all the political, ethnic and religious entities, and works for the unity of the people of Kurdistan, rather than for division and collapse and separation of areas and dialects to further divide Kurdistan.

“It has also given full authority and decentralized power to the provinces and administrative units, and thanks to this system Kurdistan Region is currently one of the most developed areas in the region and has attracted the whole world and international community; hence such statements are in no way acceptable and only proves ignorance and hatred of their owners and nothing else.”
