Lufthansa to re­sume flights to Er­bil

Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Prime Min­is­ter, Nechir­van Barzani, yes­ter­day re­ceived the Ger­man Gen­eral Con­sul to Kur­dis­tan, Di­eter Lamle, and his ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion.

The Ger­man Gen­eral Con­sul ex­pressed his sor­row for the vic­tims of last week’s blast in Ainkawa dis­trict of Er­bil, prais­ing the role of the Kur­dis­tan Re­gional Gov­ern­ment, KRG, and the se­cu­rity forces, who ar­rested the per­pe­tra­tors in a short pe­riod of time. He also thanked the Prime Min­is­ter for the sup­port that the KRG is of­fer­ing to the Ger­man School in Er­bil.

The Ger­man Con­sul also ex­pressed his grat­i­tude to the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion for the warm wel­come the Ger­man Par­lia­ment del­e­ga­tion re­ceived when it vis­ited the Re­gion last week. He re­it­er­ated Ger­man gov­ern­ment’s sup­port for the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion and in­creas­ing mil­i­tary aids for the Pesh­merga Forces.

In the meet­ing, Mr. Lamle stated that the Ger­man Lufthansa air­line flights to Er­bil, which was re­cently suspended, will re­sume soon.

Prime Min­is­ter Barzani ex­pressed his gov­ern­ment’s grat­i­tude for the Ger­man sup­port, urg­ing for the con­tin­u­a­tion of the mil­i­tary aid, train­ing and hu­man­i­tar­ian as­sis­tance.

He also ex­pressed his sat­is­fac­tion for Lufthansa’s re­sum­ing flights to Er­bil, and re­as­sured that Kur­dis­tan Re­gion's sup­port for the Ger­man School in Er­bil will con­tinue.

Prime Min­is­ter Barzani briefed the Gen­eral Con­sul about Kur­dis­tan Re­gion’s re­la­tions with the Iraqi Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment, say­ing that KRG con­tin­ues its ef­forts to strengthen those re­la­tions.

Prime Min­is­ter Barzani also briefed the Ger­man Con­sul about the fi­nan­cial dif­fi­cul­ties that the Re­gion is fac­ing now. In ad­di­tion, he talked about the re­cent devel­op­ment in the fight against the Is­lamic State ter­ror­ist or­ga­ni­za­tion, ISIS, and the suc­ces­sive vic­to­ries that the Pesh­merga Forces achieve on the bat­tle­fields.
