Kurds try to make Kele an international border point

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

A delegation from the Kurdistan Parliament visited Baghdad and organized a number of meetings there. The delegation, which consisted of representatives from different blocs of the parliament, was mainly trying to con- vince the Iraqi authorities to recognize Kele border point with Iran in Pishdar area, as an international border crossing.

They met with the Iraqi President, Deputy Parliament Speaker and a number of ministers in Bagh- dad.

Parliament Member Qadir Razgayee, who was a member of the delegation, says they have met with a number of authorities in Baghdad, and all of them have reiterated their support for the demands of the delegation.

MP Razgayee says the Iraqi Interior Minister has suggested that the Kurdistan Region’s Interior Minister sends them an official request for the recognition of the Kele border point, so that they can start work- ing on the request.

The delegation were also planning to meet the trade minister in Baghdad, however, the minister was out of town for a visit to Kurdistan Region.

Kele border point is located on the Kurdish- Iranian border in Pishdar District. If Kele becomes an international border point, it would have positive impact on the economic development of the Pishdar and Raparin area.
