Mother of three mar­tyrs hon­ored in Euro­pean Par­lia­ment

Af­ter the Euro­pean Par­lia­ment of­fi­cially in­vited the mother of three Pesh­merga mar­tyrs to meet the Pres­i­dent of the Euro­pean Par­lia­ment Martin Schulz, Aisha Taha left Er­bil In­ter­na­tional Air­port for Brussels on 17th of April, ac­com­pa­nied by her son Khur­shid Mawlood and two Yazidi girls who sur­vived their cap­tur­ing by the Is­lamic State.

In the meet­ing, the Yazidi girls de­scribed the bru­tal­ity of the IS and asked the EU to rec­og­nize the massacre of Yazidis as geno­cide. The Head of Re­la­tions Com­mit­tee at the Euro­pean Union kissed the hands of the mar­tyrs' mother Aisha.

The Yazidi Iraqi MP Vian Dakhil, who also at­tended the meet­ing, thanked the Ger­man gov­ern­ment for pro­vid­ing med­i­cal treat­ment to sur­viv­ing Yazidi girls and re­quested the EU to pro­vide fur­ther sup­port for refugees and dis­placed peo­ple.

The three Pesh­merga broth­ers Na­jat Oth­man, Ah­mad Oth­man and Mawlood Oth­man, who were from So­ran Dis­trict in Er­bil, were killed by the IS dur­ing an at­tempt by Pesh­merga forces to re­take con­trol of Zu­mar, north­east of Mo­sul.
