Mother of three martyrs honored in European Parliament
After the European Parliament officially invited the mother of three Peshmerga martyrs to meet the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, Aisha Taha left Erbil International Airport for Brussels on 17th of April, accompanied by her son Khurshid Mawlood and two Yazidi girls who survived their capturing by the Islamic State.
In the meeting, the Yazidi girls described the brutality of the IS and asked the EU to recognize the massacre of Yazidis as genocide. The Head of Relations Committee at the European Union kissed the hands of the martyrs' mother Aisha.
The Yazidi Iraqi MP Vian Dakhil, who also attended the meeting, thanked the German government for providing medical treatment to surviving Yazidi girls and requested the EU to provide further support for refugees and displaced people.
The three Peshmerga brothers Najat Othman, Ahmad Othman and Mawlood Othman, who were from Soran District in Erbil, were killed by the IS during an attempt by Peshmerga forces to retake control of Zumar, northeast of Mosul.
