Man re­spon­si­ble for Er­bil and Kirkuk bomb­ings ar­rested

In a state­ment by the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion’s Se­cu­rity Coun­cil, their counter-ter­ror­ism forces, in co­or­di­na­tion with the Er­bil and Kirkuk Se­cu­rity De­part­ments have ar­rested a man who was the top guy re­spon­si­ble for the plan­ning of the re­cent bomb­ings in both Er­bil and Kirkuk.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, the per­son, called Raad Hadi Lafta Has­san, who was also known as Ab­dul-Ma­jid, was ar­rested based on in­for­ma­tion shared by other ter­ror­ists who were mem­bers of his group and were pre­vi­ously ar­rested by the Kur­dish se­cu­rity forces.

“Ac­cord­ing to the con­fes­sions of the group, Ab­dul-Ma­jid was re­spon­si­ble for plan­ning ma­jor­ity of the ter­ror­ist at­tacks an bomb­ing in Kirkuk and all the three bomb­ings in Er­bil on Au­gust 23, 2014, Novem­ber 19, 2014 and April 17, 2015,” reads the state­ment by the Se­cu­rity Coun­cil.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, the ter­ror­ist, whose last po­si­tion with the Is­lamic State ISIS was the Head of the Kirkuk Di­vi­sion, joined the Kataeib Thawrat al Ishrin ter­ror­ist group, and joined ISIS in Diala since 2008.
