Man responsible for Erbil and Kirkuk bombings arrested
In a statement by the Kurdistan Region’s Security Council, their counter-terrorism forces, in coordination with the Erbil and Kirkuk Security Departments have arrested a man who was the top guy responsible for the planning of the recent bombings in both Erbil and Kirkuk.
According to the statement, the person, called Raad Hadi Lafta Hassan, who was also known as Abdul-Majid, was arrested based on information shared by other terrorists who were members of his group and were previously arrested by the Kurdish security forces.
“According to the confessions of the group, Abdul-Majid was responsible for planning majority of the terrorist attacks an bombing in Kirkuk and all the three bombings in Erbil on August 23, 2014, November 19, 2014 and April 17, 2015,” reads the statement by the Security Council.
According to the statement, the terrorist, whose last position with the Islamic State ISIS was the Head of the Kirkuk Division, joined the Kataeib Thawrat al Ishrin terrorist group, and joined ISIS in Diala since 2008.
