PM Barzani re­ceives Croa­t­ian Repub­lic’s Deputy Prime Min­is­ter

Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Prime Min­is­ter, Nechir­van Barzani, re­ceived Deputy Prime Min­is­ter and Min­is­ter of For­eign and Euro­pean Af­fairs of the Repub­lic of Croa­tia, Vesna Pusić, and her ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion, on Mon­day, May 4th, 2015.

Ms. Vesna Pusić stressed that Croa­tia is com­mit­ted to con­tinue its sup­port to the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion at both mil­i­tary and hu­man­i­tar­ian lev­els.

She ex­pressed her ap­pre­ci­a­tion to the peo­ple and gov­ern­ment of Kur­dis­tan for hav­ing been able to ac­com­mo­date a large num­ber of refugees and in­ter­nally dis­placed per­sons and pro­vide them with the nec­es­sary ser­vices, de­spite the limited re­sources of the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion.

Re­gard­ing the re­la­tions be­tween Croa­tia and the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, Ms. Vesna Pusić said that Croa­tia will open its con­sulate in Er­bil in the fu­ture; a move which would help strength­en­ing bi­lat­eral re­la­tions be­tween the two sides.

Prime Min­is­ter Barzani ex­pressed his ap­pre­ci­a­tion to Croa­t­ian Repub­lic for the as­sis­tance it is of­fer­ing to the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion within the frame­work of the coali­tion forces.

Also, he ex­pressed Kur­dis­tan Re­gion’s readi­ness to of­fer the re­quired as­sis­tance for Croa­t­ian in­vest­ment in the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion.

The lat­est de­vel­op­ments in the re­la­tions be­tween Bagh­dad and Er­bil and the war against the Is­lamic State ter­ror­ist or­ga­ni­za­tion were top­ics also dis­cussed in the meet­ing.

Dur­ing her visit, Ms. Vesna Pusić will visit some in­sti­tu­tions and or­ga­ni­za­tions, in­clud­ing Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Par­lia­ment, as well as camps of refugees and IDPs.
