The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani condemned the clashes between the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDP-I) and Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in a statement, calling on the two parties to solve their problems through negotiations and discussions.

Barzani also called on both sides to exercise restraint and avoid any acts that may heighten tensions.

Clashes broke out on Sunday after PKK fighters launched an attack on KDP-I Peshmerga in the Kelashin area on Iraq- Iran border, a KDP-I spokesman said.

“As I said before and now I will repeat it: there should be no internal clashes, and no Kurdish blood should be shed by other Kurds,” Barzani said.

The President urged all parties to fulfill their national responsibilities and avoid turning the Kurdistan region into a field for violent internal clashes.

“The Kurdistan Regional Government must fully attempt to control the situation and halt the disputes between these two parties,” he said.
