Mirani: What happened in Parliament was a wrong interpretation of procedures

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

The Secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party ( KDP) Politburo, Fazil Mirani, said that what happened in the Kurdistan Parliament last week was a wrong interpretation of the parliamentary procedures. He also said KDP has protected the interests of the Kurdish People and will continue to do so.

In a meeting with UK General Consul in Erbil, Mirani shed light on the recent political and security conditions in Kurdistan Region and Iraq. "We need unity among the Kurdish political parties as Kurds are facing security issues with Islamic State groups and political issues with the Iraqi government," noted Mirani.

Mirani criticized the presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament for inviting international diplomats to attend in a parliament session in which a law project was discussed. He said those people may only be invited in special sessions like a ceremony in which a president swears a legal oath.

Mirani said KDP was the first winning party in the previous election, but never wanted to ignore the other political parties and always wanted to share power with them.

On his part, UK Consul thanked Mirani for setting up the meeting and thanked people of Kurdistan for being patient with the financial crisis in the Region. He also paid his tribute to Peshmerga forces and wished them success in the fight against the IS.
