Pres­i­dent Barzani re­ceives a Ja­panese del­e­ga­tion

The Pres­i­dent of the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, Ma­soud Barzani, re­ceived a Ja­panese del­e­ga­tion headed by Mr. Yuki Okam­ato, the for­mer spe­cial ad­vi­sor to the Ja­panese Prime Min­is­ter and Ja­pan>s Am­bas­sador to Iraq. Dur­ing the meet­ing, which was held in Er­bil on July 7, Pres­i­dent Barzani and Mr. Okamoto dis­cussed the latest se­cu­rity and po­lit­i­cal de­vel­op­ments in the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion and the rest of Iraq.

The two sides also dis­cussed the hu­man­i­tar­ian is­sues es­pe­cially con­cern­ing the IDPs from other ar­eas of Iraq and the refugees from Syria.

Mr. Okamoto stated that the Ja­panese gov­ern­ment will con­tinue to sup­port the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion as it strives to com­pletely rid the re­gion of the ter­ror­ists of the Is­lamic State.
