Sources from inside the 7th Brigade of the Iraqi Army reported last week that a number of al- Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilized Units) members have been arrested south of Tikrit because they have been sending arms to the Islamic State Terrorist Organization.

A commander of the 7th Brigade told the media organizations that a group of their soldiers arrested a number of armed men on July 8, 2015, who were members of the Hashd al-Shaabi forces.

According to the commander, these armed men were finding weapons and bombs hidden by IS from the newly liberated areas in Salahaddin Province and they were sending these weapons back to the IS.

The group was arrested in the town of Yasrib, 80 km south of Tikrit.

The group reportedly had an authorization letter to enter all the liberated areas, which is expected to be faked.

“The members of the group have admitted to have connections with the IS, and they have been put on trial,” said the commander.
