Qatar as­sists refugees in Kur­dis­tan

Pres­i­dent of the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, Ma­soud Barzani, met the Qatar For­eign Min­is­ter Dr al-At­tiyah on July 20.

Talks dur­ing the meet­ing fo­cused on re­la­tions be­tween Qatar and Kur­dis­tan and ways of fur­ther en­hanc­ing them, in ad­di­tion to is­sues of com­mon in­ter­est.

The For­eign Min­is­ter af­firmed Qatar’s keen­ness to strengthen the co-op­er­a­tion and fur­ther de­velop bi­lat­eral re­la­tions be­tween the two na­tions, no­tably in eco­nomic and in­vest­ment sec­tors, and wish­ing sta­bil­ity, growth and pros­per­ity for the Kur­dis­tan re­gion.

They also re­viewed the sit­u­a­tion of the Iraqi dis­placed per­sons and Syr­ian refugees in Er­bil.

Dr al-At­tiyah ex­pressed his hope that this sup­port would con­trib­ute to al­le­vi­at­ing the suf­fer­ing of dis­placed per­sons and refugees in Iraq, while re­it­er­at­ing his wishes for se­cu­rity and last­ing sta­bil­ity for Kur­dis­tan.

Pres­i­dent Barzani thanked the gov­ern­ment and peo­ple of Qatar for their sup­port to Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, wish­ing fur­ther de­vel­op­ment and pros­per­ity in their bi­lat­eral re­la­tions.
