Ammar al-Hakim was attacked in Diala

The Kurdish Globe - - News -

While visiting the explosion location in Khan Bani Saad town in Diala Province last week, Ammar al Hakim, Head of the Iraqi Supreme Islamic Council, was attached by the locals who threw stones at him.

Mahmoud Obaid, a police officer at Khan Bani Saad police department, told the local Kurdish news website that while al-Hakim was visiting the location of an explosion in the town and attending the funerals on Tuesday, July 21, a number of inhabitants of the town blocked the way for alHakim and started swearing at him and attacking him with stones.

According to the police officer, the group did the same when Haider al Abadi, the Iraqi Prime Minister, visited the area, and they didn’t allow him to enter the town.

Obaid claims that the violent group belongs to the supporters of Nouri al-Maliki.
