Sin­jar to have a new army unit

Ac­cord­ing to a rule by Kur­dis­tan Re­gion’s Pres­i­dent Massoud Barzani, a new army unit shall be es­tab­lished specif­i­cally for Sin­jar, which will be as­signed to pro­tect Sin­jar peo­ple and lands.

Qas­sim Shaho, Pesh­mara Forces Com­man­der in Sin­jar said Pres­i­dent Barzani has de­cided to unite the forces fight­ing Is­lamic State in Sin­jar in one or­ga­nized unit, which will con­sist of 10 brigades. The force shall con­sist of Mus­lims and Yezidis.

“The forces in Sin­jar are cur­rently more than 6K Pesh­marga, hav­ing 600 Pesh­marga in each brigade,” Com­man­der Shasho ex­plained. “They are all reg­is­tered to be or­ga­nized un­der the Min­istry of Pesh­marga.”

Shasho ar­gued that this unit will be very sig­nif­i­cant for pro­tect­ing Sin­jar and its peo­ple and all its fight­ers are from the area and they are ready to fight in all their ca­pac­ity.

“Any in­di­vid­ual or party who does not re­spect the or­ders of the Pres­i­dent, will not be al­lowed to stay in the area for a minute and will be treated as ISIS.”
