U. S. Consul General bids farewell to Kurdistan
The outgoing U.S. Consul General Joseph Pennington met with Minister Falah Mustafa Head of KRG Foreign Relations to bid farewell and to introduce his successor Mr. Matthias Mitman, in Erbil on Thursday, July 25, 2015.
Minister Mustafa said, “On behalf of the Kurdistan Regional Government, I would like to express my full appreciation for your efforts to solidify the substantial relationship between the United States of America and the Kurdistan Region.”
“Your presence and active engagement during your tenure have laid the foundations for collaboration in many areas, and the KRG applauds your contribution,” the Minister added.
He welcomed Mr. Mitman and assured him of the sup- port and assistance of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations to ensure that his tenure in Erbil is successful.
Mr. Pennington thanked the KRG, in particular the Department of Foreign Relations for their assistance to the U.S. mission in Erbil. He stated, “It has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to serve in the Kurdistan Region. We see the Kurdistan Regional Government as a great partner. I believe there are any areas that we can further develop our ties and our partnership will continue to grow.”
The new Consul General, Mr. Mitman, expressed commitment to continue the path of his predecessor to further consolidate bilateral ties between Kurdistan Region and the U.S.
