Pres­i­dent Barzani: the po­lit­i­cal process will not al­low for any un­de­sir­able con­se­quences

Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent Ma­soud Barzani met with UK Gov­ern­ment’s Min­is­ter of State for Cab­i­net, Oliver Letwin, in his of­fice in Er­bil on Au­gust 31. Dur­ing the meet­ing sev­eral is­sues were dis­cussed in­clud­ing bi­lat­eral re­la­tions, the fight against the ISIS, and po­lit­i­cal de­vel­op­ments in Kur­dis­tan and Iraq. Oliver Letwin praised the demo­cratic process in the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion and the role of the Pesh­merga forces in tak­ing the fight to ISIS ter­ror­ists, and pledged con­tin­ued UK sup­port to the KRG. Pres­i­dent Barzani thanked the UK gov­ern­ment’s sup­port as part of the in­ter­na­tional coali­tion. He said that with the sup­port of the UK and other coali­tion mem­bers the Pesh­merga have been able to push back the ISIS ter­ror­ists. On the po­lit­i­cal sit­u­a­tion in Kur­dis­tan, the Pres­i­dent stated that the po­lit­i­cal de­vel­op­ments in Kur­dis­tan will be ad­dressed through demo­cratic means and added that ev­ery­one must be rest as­sured that the po­lit­i­cal process will not al­low for any un­de­sir­able con­se­quences. He said that the most im­por­tant thing is that the Pesh­merga and the se­cu­rity forces will not get in­volved in these po­lit­i­cal dis­putes.
