The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

The Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani is trying to end the recent clashes between Turkish army and PKK fighter on the border regions.

The Chief of Staff of the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga Ministry has revealed that Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani has been mediating between the Turkish government and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), trying to bring them back to the negotiating table.

Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jamal Mohamed told BasNews that President Barzani is concerned about the recent clashes between Turkey and the PKK as violence in neighbouring countries naturally affects the Kurdistan Region.

He said that as well as refugees from Syria, scores of families are now fleeing the violence in Kurdish areas of Turkey and seeking shelter in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Mohammed reports that Barzani has asked the Turkish and PKK officials to end the and resume the peace process in the country as “a peaceful negotiation is the only solution.”
