UK, South Korean are ready to con­tinue as­sist­ing Pesh­merga

Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent Ma­soud Barzani to­day met with Gen­eral Tom Beck­ett, UK’s se­nior de­fence ad­vi­sor of the Mid­dle East at the Min­istry of De­fence.

Pres­i­dent Barzani and Gen­eral Beck­ett dis­cussed the on­go­ing ef­forts to de­feat ISIS ter­ror­ists, in­clud­ing prepa­ra­tions to re­take the city of Mo­sul. They also dis­cussed lo­gis­ti­cal and train­ing needs of the Pesh­merga forces.

Pres­i­dent Barzani thanked the UK and other coali­tion mem­bers for their sup­port of the Pesh­merga. Gen­eral Beck­ett, for his part, lauded the role of the Pesh­merga forces and de­scribed them as ad­mirable. He added that the UK stands ready to con­tinue as­sist­ing them.

On Oc­to­ber 30, Barzani also re­ceived the Korean am­bas­sador to Iraq, Sung Wong Chu, to dis­cuss the Iraqi and Kur­dis­tan's po­lit­i­cal and se­cu­rity con­di­tions. The Am­bas­sador re­it­er­ated his coun­try's readi­ness to as­sist Kur­dis­tan, es­pe­cially the Pesh­marga.
