Barzani Con­grat­u­lates Pesh­merga for Lib­er­at­ing Sin­jar

On Fri­day, Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent Mas­soud Barzani con­firmed Pesh­merga vic­tory and full lib­er­a­tion of the Kur­dish Yazidi-ma­jor­ity town of Sin­jar.

Af­ter the lib­er­a­tion of Sin­jar town by the Kur­dish forces, Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent Mas­soud Barzani held a press con­fer­ence in­side Sin­jar and said it was a his­tor­i­cal day for Kur­dish strug­gle es­pe­cially for the Yazidis.

“It’s a his­tor­i­cal strug­gle to free Sin­jar,” said Barzani. “We ful­filled the prom­ise to re­take Sin­jar from Is­lamic State ter­ror­ists and Sin­jari peo­ple aren't alone and all Kur­dish peo­ple with them and they are part of Kur­dis­tan and they should held their head high and they are sym­bol of Kur­dis­tan.”

Barzani con­grat­u­lated Pesh­merga and the peo­ple of Kur­dis­tan, es­pe­cially the Yazidi peo­ple. He also thanked US gov­ern­ment and in­ter­na­tional coali­tion force for sup­port­ing the op­er­a­tion.

“ISIS com­mit­ted huge crimes in Iraq and Syria, but it did the most evil ones in Sin­jar,” he said. “The saving Sin­jar op­er­a­tion may be blessed for es­pe­cially peo­ple of Sin­jar and my Yazidi broth­ers.”

“Only Pesh­merga force played a role in free­ing Sin­jar and only Kur­dis­tan flag will be fly­ing and none of the par­ties flags will be al­lowed”, added Barzani.

"Sin­jar is very im­por­tant be­cause it has be­come a sym­bol of the in­jus­tice against the peo­ple of Kur­dis­tan," Barzani re­minded the world.

Af­ter Pesh­merga forces en­tered the the town for the first time af­ter 15 months of ISIS con­trol, they raised a large Kur­dis­tan flag on the Sin­jar Silo— a sym­bol of Pesh- merga and Kur­dis­tan vic­tory over IS group.
