Barzani in Munich to Participate in Security Conference

The Kurdish Globe - - FRONT PAGE -

While the Kurdistan region is struggling with an acute economic crisis, Kurdistan Regional President Massoud Barzani has issued a sweeping order to fight the hardship and improve the situation in the region.

Barzani ordered the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) late on the Wednesday to reconsider the governmental structure of the KRG and undertake immediate fi- nancial measures to improve people’s lives in the region.

He urged the government to reform the revenue sources and cut umerited spending as well as conducting reformation in the investment sector.

The order comes as the KRG’s civil servants have not received their salaries for few months and there are peaceful demonstrations in some districts of the Kurd- istan Region, demanding unpaid salaries.

Only hours before the order, Barzani, who serves also as the president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), issued a separate order to urge his party to investigate all the cases of corruption and misuse of authority in which KDP members may have been involved.
