Gorran allegedly asks for PKK support

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

Gorran (Change Movement) has allegedly asked the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to help them increase their influence across Sulaymaniyah province and Garmiyan administration.

A source, speaking to BasNews on condition of anonymity, revealed that Gorran has recently asked PKK leaders to appoint some military units to help the party bring Sulaymaniyah province and Garmiyan administration under their full control.

The source pointed out that Qadir Haji Ali, a leading figure in Gorran, has recently visited Qandil on behalf of his party’s General Coordinator Nawshirwan Mustafa.

“The plan is to take control of the area, includ- ing oil fields, through an uprising plot backed by the PKK military forces,” the source said. "PKK is required to spread its guerrillas across the area and protect the frontlines against the Islamic State (IS) as well.”

Since Gorran’s request was not immediately obliged, PKK, under the pressure of other parties, is not expected to participate in the plan.

Gorran’s Head of Public Relations, Muhammed Tofiq Rahim, told BasNews that his focus is insisting on fundamental reforms in the Kurdistan Region and they have no such plan for an uprising.

Gorran’s Spokesperson was not available for further comments.
