Mas­rour Barzani: KRG con­tin­ues col­lab­o­ra­tion with Amnesty In­ter­na­tional

Meet­ing with a top del­e­ga­tion form In­ter­na­tional Amnesty or­ga­ni­za­tion, Chan­cel­lor of Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Se­cu­rity Coun­cil (KRSC) Mas­rour Barzani has re­it­er­ated that the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion is ready to fully co­op­er­ate with in­ter­na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions to over­come any deficit in the re­gion.

Barzani re­ceived the Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of Amnesty In­ter­na­tional Salil Shetty and his ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion on May 4; they dis­cussed the atroc­i­ties con­ducted by the Is­lamic State (IS) as well as the sit­u­a­tion of the hu­man rights in the re­gion.

Shetty com­mended the Kur­dis­tan Regional Gov­ern­ment (KRG) for its com- mit­ment to hu­man rights and pro­tec­tion of civil­ians, stress­ing out that Amnesty In­ter­na­tional has a long his­tory of co­op­er­a­tion and en­gage­ment in Kur­dis­tan Re- gion.

Con­cern­ing the lat­est re­port by Amnesty In­ter­na­tional on Kur­dis­tan Re­gion, Barzani re­it­er­ated that KRG will cer­tainly in­ves­ti­gate the claims and it will co­op­er­ate with in­ter­na­tional or­ga­ni­za­tions to fur­ther im­prove the con­di­tions.
