U. S. Am­bas­sador Jones Trav­els to Er­bil for Meet­ings with Kur­dis­tan Re­gional Govern­ment Lead­ers

On June 11, U.S. Am­bas­sador to Iraq Stu­art Jones trav­eled to Er­bil for meet­ings with top po­lit­i­cal lead­ers, in­clud­ing IKR Pres­i­dent Ma­soud Barzani, KRG Prime Min­is­ter Nechir­van Barzani, and PUK Polit­buro mem­ber Barham Salih. Am­bas­sador Jones dis­cussed the po­lit­i­cal sit­u­a­tion, eco­nomic re­form plans, and the $480 mil­lion in on­go­ing U.S. hu­man­i­tar­ian and mil­i­tary as­sis­tance, in­clud­ing more than $65 mil­lion in food, fuel, am­mu­ni­tion and med­i­cal sup­plies pro­vided to the Pesh­merga in the last month. Com­bined Joint Task Force – Op­er­a­tion In­her­ent Re­solve Com­man­der Lt. Gen­eral Sean Mac­Far­land, Of­fice of Se­cu­rity Co­op­er­a­tion – Iraq Chief Bri­gadier Gen­eral Scott McKean, and Act­ing Con­sul Gen­eral Roy Per­rin also par­tic­i­pated in the meet­ings
