Amal Clooney to rep­re­sent Na­dia Mu­rad at the In­ter­na­tional Crim­i­nal Court

Amal Clooney, a bar­ris­ter at Doughty Street Cham­bers spe­cial­iz­ing in in­ter­na­tional law and hu­man rights law, con­firmed the re­ports that she will legally rep­re­sent all the Yazidi geno­cide vic­tims, in­clud­ing the Nobel Prize nom­i­nee Na­dia Mu­rad, at the In­ter­na­tional Court of Jus­tice.

Doughty Street Cham­bers is the largest and most widerang­ing civil lib­er­ties le­gal prac­tice in the world.

In an in­ter­view for Women in the World, Clooney said “How can it be that the most se­ri­ous crimes known to hu­man­ity are be­ing car­ried out be­fore our eyes but are not be­ing pros­e­cuted by the In­ter­na­tional Crim­i­nal Court in The Hague?”

Clooney is Bri­tish-Le­banese lawyer, ac­tivist, au­thor and the wife of the fa­mous Amer- ican ac­tor Ge­orge Clooney that rep­re­sented many fa­mous cases such as Ju­lian As­sange, the founder of Wik­iLeaks, in his fight against ex­tra­di­tion, the for­mer prime min­is­ter of Ukraine, Yu­lia Ty­moshenko, and the Cana­dian-Egyp­tian jour­nal­ist Mo­hamed Fahmy.

The Nobel Prize nom­i­nee and IS sur­vivor Na­dia Mu­rad con­firmed the in­for­ma­tion as well on her Twit­ter ac­count.
