“Voice of Light” is a short action film directed by Jibraeel Abubakir. In its recent participation, it took part in the Strawberry Festival in Britain, and the honorary prize was awarded to the director.

The story of the film revolves around a blind man who’s a teacher in the blind school. He hears a woman’s voice on the radio who’s a presenter and is reading a poem loudly. The woman has a nice and attractive voice. When the blind man hears the voice, he falls in love and tries to find the woman. The actor Husam Jalal plays the main role in the film.

The film is 2010’s production of the Directorate of Cinema in Hawler. The director Abubakir says he was happy for his premiere film. After he re-edited the film in 2015, he managed to enter the Strawberry Fes- tival in Britain and win a prize as the director of the film. He added that the film has been winning several prizes since its production. The movie’s plot has achieved the attention of many audiences—“that’s why I made a re-editing and worked on submitting it to the festivals and luckily it yielded good results in the first and second shows,” says Abubakir.

“Voice of Light” has previously been awarded several prizes, such as “the best scenario” in Hawler Short Film Festival, and Laaw Short Film festival. Three actors of the film have won honorary prizes. The film has also been awarded in the Afreen Festival in Western Kurdistan.
