Pop­u­lar trio say farewell to St Fer­gal’s

AN EMO­TIONAL farewell party was held last Satur­day night as Sr. Cather­ine Hy­land, Fr. Pat Power and Fr. Joe Mur­ray left St. Fer­gal’s Parish.

Over 260 parish­ioners filled Ard­more Stu­dios to say good­bye and to cel­e­brate the work done at St. Fer­gals by the three.

Fr. Power who has been with St. Fer­gals for 22 years will be mov- ing to Brus­sels to an English speak­ing parish there.

Sr. Cather­ine who has been at St. Fer­gals for 15 years will be mov­ing to Lon­don and Fr. Mur­ray who has been with the parish for just four years is re­tir­ing at the age of 75 af­ter an ill­ness.

At the farewell party Parish Priest of St. Fer­gals, Fr. John O’Brien pre­sented each of them with a gift. He pre­sented Sr. Cather­ine with a gold broach that was en­graved with the ban­ner of St. Fer­gals.

Fr. Power was pre­sented with a paint­ing by lo­cal artist Peter Growney of St. Fer­gals Church and Fr. Mur­ray re­ceived vouch­ers.

All three will be greatly missed through­out the com­mu­nity.
