Billy hits 17th ‘hole-in-one’
UNBELIEVABLE SUPER GOLFER IN HIS 80S
OCTOGENARIAN Billy Bradshaw has proven himself unstoppable once again, with his 17th hole-in-one achieved recently at Greystones Golf Club.
Billy, who has a handicap of 21, was playing in the monthly medal at Greystones last Saturday, when he had his latest ace.
It happened at the 167 yard 11th hole - the same par 3 where he had his 16th hole-in-one in July. He also used the same club, a newly acquired Titeleist driver. He used the same club to score his 15th ace at the Royal County Down last February.
‘I hit the ball dead straight this time and it landed on the green and rolled in to the hole,’ said Billy. ‘I couldn’t believe my eyes. When I got back to the club house the news had reached the members and there was loud clapping and cheering.’
His playing partner Conor O’Riordan was gob-smacked. ‘When I saw the ball in the air I said, “That looks like a hole in one,” I was right! Former Greystones Golf Club Captain Jim Dunne was on the nearby 12th tee. ‘I heard it hit the pin and the ball disappeared,’ said Jim. ‘The next thing I saw was Billy picking the ball out of the hole.’
