Gone fishing...

ONE SPORT not mentioned too often on this page is fishing but we are delighted to report of international success for one of our own.

Philip Berns is the grandson of Jimmy Fagan and he has been fishing for most of his young years.

Recently he was on a 14-member Irish youth team that competed in a four-nation fly fishing competition along with England, Scotland and Wales.

Philip had to make it through the qualifying stages to just represent his country for the second time for this event which took place on the beautiful Lough Conn in Co. Mayo. Ireland emerged the winners on the day and Philip was the third top Irish Rod on his 14 member team which was a great achievement.

Congratulations to Philip who is now 17 and this was his last year at youth level but no doubt he will be a great success at senior level due to his love and dedication of the sport.
